Wealth
Requires a Bit of Talent, a Lot of Numbers

To become wealthy does require a bit of talent, but it’s mostly mathematics.
You need a bit of talent to create something new, but it doesn’t have to be 100% new. That is, no need to reinvent the wheel.
In fact, if you take a product or service that exists already and is successful commercially, and tweak it so as to introduce a small new element, you can be quite successful.
The rest is just mathematics. That is, marketing, finance, operations, etc. are just mathematics. It’s a numbers game.
What I’m saying is this: COMPETITION IS COMPUTATION.
Do all the computations and calculations you need to do on paper (preferably using an Excel spreadsheet) so as to GUARANTEE your own success, and you won’t have to worry much about the competition.
The REAL competition, in fact, occurs within your mind between your smart thoughts and your dumb thoughts. I don’t mean “dumb” in any offensive manner, but only to refer to thoughts or beliefs that people unconsciously have which DEFEAT them.
The difference between a thought and a belief is this: a belief is a black-belt entity while a thought is (barely) a yellow-belt entity. As in karate, the black-belt entity will easily defeat the yellow-belt entity.
Your beliefs are really what stop you from becoming wealthy. This is why I wrote years ago that “you cannot possibly become a millionaire unless you believe in the possibility of your being a millionaire.”
In more concrete terms, it is not more “knowledge” that you need, but a reliable method for critically examining your own beliefs and letting go of beliefs that are not serving you.
Once you change your beliefs, you will find yourself in a dramatically different universe. You will notice things and events and opportunities that you did NOT notice at all before. In other words, only a millionaire notices millionaire opportunities. And he can notice them in a fraction of a
second.
